Football recruiting: Mater Dei’s JT Daniels to take unofficial visit to Michigan
JT Daniels is focused on Mater Dei’s upcoming football season but the junior quarterback will squeeze in an unofficial recruiting visit before the Monarchs’ final march toward their 2017 opener.
The Register’s reigning offensive player of the year said he will make an unofficial visit to Michigan on Friday and Saturday. The Wolverines are among the many schools that have offered Daniels.
Michigan reportedly hosts its annual BBQ for recruits on Saturday.
But come the fall, Daniels said his focus will be on the Monarchs, who were ranked No. 1 in the nation Monday by MaxPreps.
“It’s Mater Dei football time,” he said at the recent Battle at the Beach passing tournament at Edison. “Football season at Mater Dei is a job.”
Daniels said earlier this month that his latest scholarship offer came from LSU.
Ranked the No. 1 quarterback recruit in the class of 2019 by Scout.com, Daniels also expressed interest in the Wolverines, USC, Stanford and Washington while at the Battle at the Beach event, which he didn’t play in order to rest his arm.
“As soon as I know, I’ll commit but I don’t know yet,” Daniels said.
Mater Dei opens the season Aug. 25 at Bishop Amat.
