Your Guide to Memorial Day 2017
With only a week until the “Unofficial” Start to Summer hopefully you’ve got your plans in order! If not…here’s a full list of everything happening from Philly to the Shore!
Celebrating Memorial Day in Philadelphia: Fireworks, Pop-Up Beer Gardens & more…Philly has a jam pack weekend of activities for everyone this Memorial Day! Beginning this time next week, the Blue Cross Blue Shield RiverRink will open for the summer. The RiverRink is home to an outdoor roller rink, carnival rides & a mini-golf course. There’s enough to keep the kids busy while you enjoy a nice cold one while relaxing in the outdoor lawn chairs! If you’re more into the adults-only scene, Penn’s Landing is offering, for the first time, Waterfront Day. Beginning on Sunday May 28th the Spirit of Philadelphia is opening a pop-up rooftop beer garden. Admission to the docked boat is free with complimentary light fare & a full cash bar. Not into drinking? The rooftop beer garden will also offer a variety of outdoor games & a DJ plus Patriot Harbor Lines will be offering 1/2 off tours and the Independence Seaport Museum will have a package deal, $20 for paddle boat rental & admission.
Penn’s Landing Waterfront Day will end with a free concert at 8pm on Sunday immediately followed by fireworks!
HEADED DOWN THE SHORE?
Kick-Off Summer in Atlantic City: Starting at 10m next Friday – head over to the boardwalk in AC for a weekend of contests, games & more! Multiple radio stations will be on-site all day on Friday with various giveaways! There will be the 4th Annual Beach Ball drop at 5pm to “officially” start summer! All weekend long there will be DJ’s, drink specials, entertainers & more! For more info click here!
Ocean City, NJ Celebrates Memorial Day: Been working on your summer body & ready to show it off? Register for the Memorial Day Beach Challenge happening at 825 Boardwalk & Moorlyn Terrace! Avalon & Stone Harbor: Avalon really is cooler by a mile with all of their Memorial Day events! Starting on Friday at Stone Harbor Beach, the opening ceremony starts the summer! From there – rest up until Sunday when all the races begin! Everything from a 5k run to a 5k walk, there’s a little something for everyone! And hey, once you finish, you’ll be ready to join in the celebrations. Monday morning starts with the Avalon Memorial Day Parade followed by the Memorial Service for Fallen Soldiers.
Wildwood: In addition to all of the Memorial Day celebrations in Wildwood and the surrounding area, North America’s largest kite festival hits the beaches of Wildwood next Saturday! Kite makers from around the world will be flying their most incredible colorful creations beginning Friday at 12 noon with the ‘Unlocking of the Ocean’ media event on the beach at Roberts Avenue featuring a special Wildwoods Icon Wall Mural Unveiling. Cape May: See if you can’t find some great antique or trinkets at the Kiwanis Yard Sale schedule for next Saturday at the Clubhouse on Beach Ave. From there, hit the beach and relax until Sunday where the 28th Annual Cape May Music Festival is scheduled to kick off! You can round out the weekend at the Memorial Day Ceremony on Monday at 11am at the Convention Hall.
