Man with handgun robs Chipotle Restaurant in Huntington Beach

HUNTINGTON BEACH — A man with a handgun robbed a Chipotle Mexican Grill Monday night and fled with about $600 in cash, authorities said.

Huntington Beach Police were dispatched to a robbery in progress by a man with a gun at 16241 Beach Blvd. about 9:40 p.m. on July 24, Sgt. Tom Weizoerick said.

The suspect fled on foot southbound on Beach Boulevard and is still at large, Weizoerick said.  No injuries were reported and a detailed description of the suspect was not available.

The robbery is the latest in a string of fast food restaurants being held up in Orange County.

On the night of July 20, two restaurants were robbed within an hour of each other.  The first robbery took place at a Del Taco in Orange about 9:20 p.m. with the suspect using a handgun and leaving with cash.

Less than an hour later, a Subway in Garden Grove was robbed by an armed man demanding money.
