Angels place Alex Meyer on the DL with shoulder inflamation
CLEVELAND — Just after Alex Meyer had the best start of his major league career, the Angels placed him on the disabled list with right shoulder inflammation. The Angels provided no immediate word on how much time Meyer might miss.
Meyer, who was placed on the DL on Monday night, will have to miss at least one start. The Angels won’t need to replace him in the rotation until Saturday, because of Monday’s off day.
The move comes after Meyer pitched seven scoreless innings against the Washington Nationals on Wednesday, allowing one hit and one walk.
Meyer is headed to the DL for the second time this season, after having a back issue in May. He missed less than two weeks with that injury.
The Angels didn’t announce a corresponding roster move, but they will promote infielder Kaleb Cowart before Tuesday’s game.
